Purpose:

Our chief purpose is to maintain the integrity of Spencer-Martin Wetland and protect key corridors/buffers on upland areas.  The wetland is located 2.5 miles from a community nature center and community college.  The region could benefit significantly from having this site preserved as an open space for outdoor enthusiasts and education programs.  We hope to raise $50,000 to purchase the section that was listed in the autumn of 2000 as a NYS Open Space.  Eventually, more portions will be added to the purchased land.
