Cambria Grassland: This area
is bounded on the west by Cambria-Wilson Road, on the north by Ridge Road, on the east by
Budd Road, and on the south by Thrall and Lower Mountain Roads. It is a large area
of fairly unfragmented grassland habitat (hay, pasture, and successional old field
communities), making it an excellent area for observing hawks, owls, and grassland
songbirds (e.g., grasshopper sparrow, upland sandpiper, bobolink). The successional
old fields also support a fair abundance of native and naturalized
wildflowers and associated butterflies (e.g., tiger swallowtail, alfalfa,
monarch).
