Bond Lake County Park
(Lewiston) Total acres: 551.8 The lakes are
used by migrating waterfowl during spring and fall. Surrounding fields
and brushland support a variety of birds, butterflies, and wildflowers. A
narrow section of the Niagara Escarpment occurs along the southern edge of
the park. From mid-April through mid-May, this area supports an abundance
of spring woodland wildflowers such as white trillium, cut-leaved
toothwort, Dutchman's breeches, and wild ginger. Note that much of the
escarpment is within the Tuscarora Indian Reservation. Therefore, stay
at the base of the escarpment to avoid possible trespass into the
reservation. There are 13 miles of trails for hiking, horseback-riding
and cross-country skiing.
